Prosecutors have demanded a prison term for former national outfielder Jung Soo-geun, who was accused of injuring a man he met at a drinking party by hitting him on the head with a beer bottle. 메이저사이트

Jung Soo-geun was put on trial on December 21 last year on charges of assaulting and injuring the head of a man A, who was drinking together, with a beer bottle at an entertainment bar in Hojeon-dong, Namyangju-si, Gyeonggi-do. 

According to the "News 1" report, the Namyangju branch of the Uijeongbu District Prosecutors' Office demanded a year and a half in prison on the 11th at a final hearing on the defendant Jung Soo-geun, who was indicted without detention on special injury charges. 

In his closing argument, Jung Soo-geun's lawyer appealed for leniency, saying, "We have acknowledged all the charges and are deeply reflecting on them. Jung Soo-geun was taking drugs for depression and insomnia at the time of the incident, so he cannot remember at all due to the side effects."  

In his final statement, Jung Soo-geun said, "I admit all my sins and reflect a lot. I think I lost my judgment after taking a lot of drugs. It's accidental and I admit all my self-complacency." 

Jeong sent a message of apology to the man who suffered a torn head, but failed to reach an agreement. The sentencing hearing for Jeong will be held in the same courtroom on Dec. 4. 


Meanwhile, Jung Soo-geun, who started his professional career with the OB Bears (currently Doosan Bears) in 1995 after graduating from Deoksu High School, played in 1,544 games in the first division until his retirement in 2009, recording a batting average of 280 (4,493 hits in 5,329) with 24 home runs, 450 RBIs, 866 runs and 474 steals. From 1998 to 2001, he ranked first in stolen bases for four consecutive years and won the Golden Glove in 1999 and 2001 in the Outfielder category. 

Jung Soo-geun signed an FA contract with Lotte for six years and 4.06 billion won in 2004, writing the history of a six-year long-term contract for the first time in the KBO league, but the recruitment effect was insufficient. 

After retirement, Jung Soo-geun served briefly as a baseball commentator, but was sentenced to prison for five drunk driving and served a year in prison.

He was loved by fans for his unique personality, but he undermined his image by causing various accidents.
